Overview

Pass the Plot ("we," "us," "our") is a social story game published by KB Studio 17. This policy applies to the Pass the Plot mobile app and this website. By using Pass the Plot, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect a username, and may collect an email address or sign-in identifier if you register or sign in through Apple, Google, or a similar provider.

Gameplay content. The sentences you write, the stories you take part in, and your cosmetic selections (borders, quills, themes) are stored so stories can be completed, revealed, and revisited.

Friend and group information. To start or join a story, we store the connections between players in a group, such as who invited whom.

Purchase information. If you buy ink bundles or cosmetics, the purchase itself is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made and which item it was for, but we never receive or store your payment card details.

Device and usage information. We collect basic technical data such as device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and general usage patterns (such as how many stories are completed or shared) to keep the app working and to understand what's working well.

Content you choose to share. If you share a completed story reveal outside the app, that image or text is generated from your story but is no longer under our control once shared externally.

How we use this information

• To operate core gameplay — turns, reminders, replacements, and story reveals.
• To maintain your account, ink balance, and cosmetic inventory.
• To send gameplay notifications, such as "it's your turn."
• To detect, investigate, and act on reports of abusive or inappropriate content.
• To fix bugs, improve performance, and understand which features people use.
• To process purchases and restore them across your devices.

We do not use your gameplay content to train third-party advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.

Sharing of information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• With other players in your story — your username and your written lines are visible to the other writers in that story, as the game requires.
• With service providers who help us run the app, such as cloud hosting, push notification delivery, and crash/analytics tooling, under agreements that limit their use of your data to providing those services.
• With Apple and Google for the purpose of processing in-app purchases and verifying entitlements.
• If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.

Children's privacy

Pass the Plot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Data retention

We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retaining limited data is necessary for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Because stories are co-written, a deleted writer's contribution to a shared story may remain visible to the remaining group, shown as removed or anonymized rather than fully erased from the story.

Your choices and rights

• You can edit your profile information from within the app.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or by emailing us.
• You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or request a copy of your personal information — contact us to make a request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

Pass the Plot may be used by players in different countries. Information may be stored or processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
